OMU ANIOMA LAUDS EFFORTS OF NWADA ANIOMA BEAUTY PAGEANT ORGANISERS TO PROMOTE ANIOMA CULTURE
By Patrick Ochei
The undisputable frontline promoter of Anioma Culture and award winning Public Speaker, HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu (Omu Okpanam/Omu Anioma/Nneoha) has commended the Nwada Anioma Beauty Pageant initiators for keying into the deliberate agenda of promoting Anioma Culture through beauty pageantry, adding that a people without identity are lost and susceptible to being drowned by the world.
She made this assertion when the winner of the Nwada Anioma Beauty Pageant 2021/2022 edition, Miss Idegwu Gloria Ogechi visited her to seek her blessing and the honour of being crowned by her during the official Coronation ceremony of the Nwada Anioma Beauty Queen. Omu Anioma gave the history of Omu Institution and the functions of an Omu, stating that her activities over the years have yielded enormous gains in the promotion of the institution of Omu by giving it the desired visibility and essence.
Her words, “My involvement in the media has brought visibility to the Omu Institution which is ancient and only indigenous to Anioma extraction of Delta State. “I must say that I am happy with what the Nwada Anioma Beauty Pageant organisers are doing with our young ones, by promoting our culture and identity as Anioma people.
This is laudable and deserves commendation from every well meaning Anioma son or daughter. “I congratulate you as the winner and advise that you use this platform to distinguish yourself. We must do everything possible to support your activities and guide you to succeed in your tenure as Nwada Anioma Beauty Queen.
My concern is you the young ones, because all we are doing or have achieved will definitely be bequeathed to you to carry on from there. “I feel proud when I see our youths wearing our Akwa Ocha. This shows that you are learning. Ever since I became an Omu, the only cloth I wear is our Akwa Ocha, whether at home or in public. If I tell the young ones to promote our Akwa Ocha by wearing it and myself don’t, that means I am not leading well.
So I must commend you young girl for making effort to be in the contest and winning eventually. I also commend the Nwada Anioma organisation, headed by Patrick Okolie in US for showing dexterity and consistency over the years in ensuring that our youths imbibe the idea behind the Beauty Pageant, which is showcasing our beautiful culture and unique identity to the world”, Omu Dunkwu concluded. Earlier, the winner of the Nwada Anioma Beauty Pageant 2021/2022 edition, Miss Idegwu Gloria Ogechi has eulogized Omu Dunkwu for her sterling leadership qualities and alluring Royal Image that astounds.
She appreciated her for the mentorship she has been getting from her, which was why she accepted to be crowned the Omu of Aniocha/Oshimili Students’ Association, Delta State University, Abraka. The 400 Level undergraduate of Theatre Art, appealed to Omu Dunkwu to do her the honour of putting the crown of Nwada Anioma Beauty Queen on her head come March 26, 2022, in Asaba. Miss Idegwu also asked some salient questions regarding the Omu Institution which Omu Dunkwu gave answers to, in addition to urging her to take up her dream pet project of exhibiting the Akwa Ocha in school without being deterred by anyone or anything.
